# Why wedding-dress cleaning is different

Three reasons:

1. The fabric is fragile. Tulle, silk chiffon, organza, hand-beaded lace — most wedding-dress fabrics are not designed to be machine-washed and barely survive standard dry cleaning.
2. The embellishments are glued or hand-sewn. Sequins, crystals, beadwork. The wrong solvent dissolves the adhesive. The wrong agitation knocks crystals loose.
3. The stains are protein-based. Champagne, food, makeup, sweat. These need enzyme treatment within 72 hours or they oxidise into permanent yellow shadows.

A standard dry-clean shop in a Dubai mall does not have the equipment or training for any of this. Use them for daily shirts. Use specialty services for wedding dresses.

# Servia's wedding-dress process

1. Inspection. First step is photographing the dress under daylight + UV light. UV reveals stains invisible to the naked eye — sweat, deodorant, body oils, champagne residue.
2. Fabric test. Small hidden section is solvent-tested to confirm dye stability + fibre resilience.
3. Hand pre-treatment. Each visible stain gets enzyme treatment, applied by hand with a soft brush, dwell time of 20-40 minutes depending on stain age.
4. Wash. Wet-clean in a fabric-specific solution (mild surfactant + pH-neutral) OR perc dry-clean depending on fabric. Wedding dresses are typically wet-clean because perc damages crystal adhesive.
5. Air-dry. Flat-dry on a padded form, never tumble. Takes 24-36 hours.
6. Hand-press. Steam-only on a vacuum table. No direct iron contact on fabric.
7. Storage prep. Acid-free tissue stuffing in sleeves + bodice, museum-grade garment box with humidity-control packet. Or padded hanger + breathable cotton bag if you plan to wear again.
