The biggest hidden cost in Dubai laundry is not the per-bag price — it is the cognitive overhead of deciding-when-to-book every week. For most weekly-wash households, a subscription removes the decision and saves money. For occasional users, pay-per-bag wins.

This guide is the honest math on when each model makes sense, drawn from 18 months of Servia customer data across Palm, Marina, Downtown, Emirates Hills, JBR, and everywhere else in Dubai.

# Pay-per-bag — when it wins

Pay-per-bag (small bag AED 49, medium AED 89, large AED 129, XL AED 189) makes sense when:

1. You travel a lot. Skipping 2+ weeks per month means a subscription wastes most of its value. The break-even is 3 picks per month minimum to make VIP worthwhile.
2. Your laundry is unpredictable. Some weeks you have 5 items, some weeks 50. Just pay for what you need.
3. You only do laundry for events. Pre-wedding, pre-trip, post-Eid — three or four times a year. Pay-per-bag avoids the recurring charge.

Typical pay-per-bag customer profile: young professional living alone in Business Bay or JLT, doing laundry 2-3 times per month, total spend AED 100-200/month. VIP would not save money for them.

# Family Plan — when it wins

Family Plan (AED 549/mo) is for households of 3+ where laundry volume exceeds 2 medium bags per week. Typical profile:

• 2 parents + 1-2 kids
• Combined weekly laundry: 60-100 items
• Kids in uniforms = recurring small loads
• Bedsheets, towels, table linens included
• 3-4 bags per week + 8-12 dry-clean items

Ad-hoc at this volume: 4 medium bags + 10 dry-cleans = AED 236 (bags) + AED 180-300 (dry-clean) = AED 416-536/month. Family Plan AED 549 is parity or savings, with added cedar hangers, eco, unlimited rush, kids-uniform express, AED 75k damage cover.

# What subscriptions DO NOT cover

Be honest: subscriptions are not a magic discount on EVERYTHING. Both VIP and Family Plan have caps:

• VIP: 2 bags/week. If you stuff a 50-item XL bag instead of a medium, the overflow charges AED 2/item.
• Family Plan: 4 bags/week. Same overflow rule.
• Dry-clean items above the monthly cap: regular per-item pricing.
• Wedding dresses, Persian rugs, embellished sherwanis: out-of-scope, separate quote.
• Pickup outside Dubai: not available for either tier (yet — we are expanding to Sharjah Q3 2026).
